Murrup Barak, Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Development at the University of Melbourne and Rio Tinto Australia are pleased to present the 2014 Narrm Oration 'Indigenous knowledges and how they help us think about the future'. The Narrm Oration, offered annually since 2009, profiles leading Indigenous thinkers from across the globe to enrich our ideas about possible futures for Indigenous Australians. The 2014 Orator is Professor Linda Tuhiwai Smith, Pro-Vice Chancellor Maori at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. Professor Smith has worked in the field of Māori Education and Health for many years as an educator and researcher and is well known for her work in Kaupapa Māori research. Her book Decolonising Methodologies Research and Indigenous Peoples has been an international bestseller in the Indigenous world since its publication in 1998.
