Alec Penstone, a 100-year-old veteran, declared that winning World War II ‘wasn’t worth it’ due to the state of the UK. The war hero volunteered at aged 15 in at the start of the war, pulling bodies out of bombed buildings. Alex joined the Royal Navy and was drafted onto submarines, followed by HMS Campania. The ship played a vital role in the D-Day landings. Alec spent his time three decks down, on watch for mines, U Boats and torpedoes.
